My Way or the Clear Way: Ayurveda, Dopamine, and the Difference Between Wants & Needs
Share:
“You may not actually be bad at something—you just may be trying to do it in the wrong context. Through steady practice, you learn what you really need, instead of buying into someone else’s story.”
After my mom passed away, my identity shifted in a way I never expected. Grief left me searching for a new way of being, and for a while I tried to buy and join my way into transformation. I bought courses, joined groups, and stacked books I never read. Each promised clarity, but instead I found myself reshaping their processes into my own. That’s when I realized the truth: doing things my way has always been the clear way forward.
In this episode, I talk about:
-
How grief reshaped my sense of self and forced me to rebuild identity
-
Why trying to fit into other people’s frameworks left me unfulfilled
-
The difference between buying what we’re told we need versus recognizing true needs
-
How dopamine and overstimulation cloud our judgment and clarity
-
The role of yoga and Ayurveda in steadying the mind so we can see clearly
What I’ve learned is that clarity doesn’t come from chasing quick fixes or outside validation. It comes from regular practice, stillness, and tuning into my own rhythm. When I step back, slow down, and connect with my breath, I can discern what is a fleeting want and what is a real need. That shift has given me freedom and peace—and it’s a reminder I return to again and again: the clear way is always found within.
