“Being able to practice regularly, consistently, and with discipline allows for this bhakti, this devotion to self… allows you to come to know yourself more deeply and more fully through the changes that you notice in relation to the static or the consistent things.”
This summer, the heat turned up in more ways than one—broken plumbing, relentless temperatures, and long days teaching in the hot yoga room. In this episode, I share the lessons I uncovered about rhythm, endurance, and staying connected to yourself when your reserves start running low.
Through the lens of Ayurveda, I talk about why even Kapha types can burn out, the importance of seasonal cleansing during ṛtu sandhi, and how a consistent daily routine—dinacaryā—can become an anchor when everything else feels chaotic.
I also reflect on the spiritual science of discipline as bhakti, or devotion. Whether your practice is yoga, writing, walking, or breathwork, the message is the same—your rhythm is your refuge. And over time, that steady devotion will show you layers of yourself you didn’t know were there.
