Functional Beliefs: Finding Freedom in Daily Choices
Share:
“And so we have this conflict going on within us where we are both our savior and our villain at the same time.”
We spend so much of our time completely out of sync with our own lives. It’s like showing up to a moment we have been waiting for, only to realize we are still dragging around the baggage of yesterday. I was thinking about this today when the camera caught me completely off guard before I was ready. It’s funny how life does that. It mirrors that exact feeling of being caught with our pants down, stuck between the life we are trying to build and the old obligations we haven’t quite let go of.
We walk through our lives lacking conscious attention, generating results we do not actually want, and then we get upset at those outcomes as if we were not the root cause in the first place. It is a harsh mirror to look into. We are simultaneously our own savior and our own worst villain. We cannot be both at the exact same moment, yet both live within us, taking turns at the wheel. If we can just recognize that we perceive everything through our own beliefs, we can start to tune ourselves to the frequency of the life we actually desire.

A Map of Wisdom
Here are some of the places we go together in this talk:
✦ The Creator’s Dilemma: How we look for solutions to painful experiences that we secretly caused ourselves.
✦ Stepping Into the Unknown: Why we must accept that we are not yet the person capable of our future success, and how to bridge that gap.
✦ The Observer Effect: Understanding that we are the perceiver, the perceived, and the experience all at once.
✦ Dropping the Weight: Why taking your life too seriously only creates more gravity and drag on your spirit.

Something to Sit With
Are you currently playing the villain in your own story by holding onto a belief that only serves to keep you stuck?
⸻
A Restorative Step:
The next time you feel frustrated by an outcome, take sixty seconds to pause, breathe, and ask yourself what unconscious choice you made that helped create this moment.
